Scope
The Cobourg Internet site covers activities and entities based in Cobourg or immediate vicinity and which have an Internet presence (web-site). It is also the web site for the Cobourg based business Cobourg Internet which provides Internet and Computer services for individuals and businesses in Cobourg. Some additional information about Cobourg is also provided as a community service. Although every effort is made on an ongoing basis to keep the site up to date with changes that occur, no responsibility can be taken for any errors or omissions.

Limits of coverage of Cobourg Internet's web site
Links and references are only provided to businesses and community service organizations that have a current web site. They must also have a Cobourg address and phone number for communicating with them. The limit in the East is Grafton and Baltimore in the north. Adult oriented sites (if any!) will not be included. Personal sites (other than blogs) are not included.
Current - when applied to a web site, current means that it must be updated as often as is reasonable for its type. For example, a "News" site must be updated at least every business day. But a Retail store with no e-commerce, should normally be updated at least every season (3 months).
Computer Help
Tips, links, suggestions and recommendations are provided for goodwill and to provide some help to users before they "call in the experts!" Although care has been taken to only suggest reputable vendors, software, sites etc, no responsibility can be taken for the actions of third parties.
This site provides help only for "IBM Compatible" computers and not for Macs. Also, the focus is on systems operating Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Design of this web site
The site has been tested on Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and Firefox 9. An effort has been made to minimize limitations from using earlier browsers. Javascript has been used but is not essential and can be disabled if desired. Flash is used to a limited extent. If you experience difficulty navigating this site, you may need to adjust some of your browser settings. Cookies have not been used.
Documents for download from this site are in Adobe Acrobat Reader format (.pdf suffix). If you do not yet have this free program, you can download it here from Adobe. (Be sure to uncheck Box asking for McAfee security scan).

There are a large number of links on this site. Any links that are broken will normally be fixed or removed on a weekly basis.
Professional Services
Payment for services
Payment is for services supplied and although every care is taken, no responsibility can be accepted for any loss of data or other damages. Services are offered for Web site design and maintenance. Payment for services is due when services are completed and an Invoice has been presented. Payment may be by cash or cheque or on-line using the services of PayPal. In the event of an NSF cheque or non-payment, no further services will be supplied until payment has been received. Hosting may be discontinued if not paid for.
For web site services, invoices will be issued at the end of the month and will include a detailed accounting for hours used plus any other costs. Time is charged at $30.00 per hour. Hosting will be priced as shown here and domains will be priced as shown here. Payment terms are net 7 days. Invoices are emailed although snail mail is available upon request.
Reliability of web site hosting services
Web site reliability, including availability of featured services (e.g. stats, e-mail, blogs) will be as good as is available in the market place in North America. Uptime is guaranteed to be 99.9% each month. If this is not met, one month of the hosting fee will be refunded upon request.
Spam
Users of Hosting provided by Cobourg Internet must not send spam. If anyone is found to have sent unsolicited emails, their service will be discontinued. If you have large volumes of mail (more than 100 emails with the same message), you will be asked to use a third party email marketing service such as Mail Chimp. All users are protected from incoming spam with "Mail Scanner".
Compatibility
Sites are designed to be viewed primarily with current browsers (Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 8 & 9 but will also be tested for compatibility with IE7, Safari and Google Chrome). All file sizes are minimized to maximize compatibility for dial-up users. Although sites work better with javascript enabled, sites are usable with it disabled.
Hosting
In addition to the limits shown for the hosting plans, excessive cpu time and other abuses are monitored. Emails sent are limited to 500 per hour for any one domain. There is no specific limit on email size although emails larger than 10MB are discouraged.
Privacy
Information is not disclosed to any other party nor used for any other purpose. This includes mailing lists and other client specific information.
