BIO: A concerned resident, local real estate broker, family man and sports enthusiast originally from Montreal. I have been proud to call Cobourg home for 10 years and raise my two kids in this amazing small town. Experience in owning and operating a business, revenue and expense accountability and the ability to communicate with the public in three languages are just some of my assets.

CAMPAIGN STATEMENT: I will be asking for your support on Election day to be your voice in council and represent you. I am against expansion of the Marina into the west harbour first and foremost because the local residents have repeatedly said they don't want it. I am in favour of reducing the amount of tax payers' dollars spent for consultants. I am in favour of creating successful strategies for Cobourg to help stimulate the entire Town including the downtown.

Information below as provided by the Candidate

BIO: Karl was born and raised in Cobourg and defines himself as a straight-shooter. Honesty, due-diligence, transparency, integrity and stewardship are virtues he lives by - a stickler for doing what's right and seeking accountability. Karl has a BScH under his belt and seeks a pragmatic approach to politics; albeit in a gentle and approachable manner. Karl operates a local website design and marketing company as well as freelances IT work for an international conglomerate. He also has valuable volunteer experience through not-for-profit corporations.

Campaign Statement:

After researching a wide variety of local resources and viewing all of the council meetings over the last two years, I have identified four key areas I would like to concentrate my efforts on (shall I be elected). These would be:

  1. Infrastructure: Maintain and improve our town's infrastructure.
  2. Affordable Housing: Brainstorm and attempt to implement affordable housing investment incentives to developers.
  3. Aging & Accessibility: Find ways to attract investment in long-term care facilities and increase accessibility in Cobourg.
  4. Finances: Fiscal responsibility and a close watch on expenditures. Look for savings to bring the best value to Cobourg's tax payers.

This is not a complete list of priorities, rather a focus. I also intend to fully cooperate and support many of the wonderful organizations around Cobourg that help to make it a great place to live, such as the DBIA, CTA, Rotary & Lion's Club, Knights of Columbus etc.

  • Fostering meaningful public engagement and giving a voice to those in our community who have traditionally felt excluded from local government.
  • Balancing the preservation of our heritage with responsible growth through sensible and sustainable planning.
  • Creating a positive climate for a strong local economy by providing the leadership Cobourg needs to be a vibrant, attractive and sustainable place to live, work, shop and invest.
