CDCI East student Ellen Torrie was the winner of the Youth Spotlight which was held as part of the Cobourg Music Experience on April 13, 2013.  And now she will be giving her first concert, free, at the Market Building in Cobourg.

Sponsored by the Town of Cobourg, the Cobourg Music Experience included auditions for local musicians for the "Youth Spotlight Series". Applicants were between the ages of 13 and 19 and were required to be secondary students in Northumberland County.

Born and raised in Cobourg, Torrie is sixteen and attends Cobourg District Collegiate Institute East. She discovered her love for music at a very young age singing in choirs since the age of seven. She now directs a children's choir in Port Hope and is involved in many community theatre productions such as Annie (2011) and Peter Pan (2013). She began writing songs at the age of eleven and has since been selected to perform in the Shelter Valley Folk Festival's songwriter's showcase in downtown Cobourg.
