Project Launch Event - Affordable and Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan

Citizens Invited to Attend Affordable Housing and Rental Housing CIP Launch Event

Learn more about the study, meet the consultant team and participate in open discussion.

The Town of Cobourg is undertaking the necessary steps to develop a town-wide Affordable and Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) and would like to inform citizens that the study has been initiated and that additional details will be provided at a Project Launch Event being held on December 5th, 2019.

The Affordable and Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan is being developed in response to the rising need for affordable and rental housing options within the Town of Cobourg, and will also help to execute the recently released Northumberland County Affordable Housing Strategy (AHS).

A CIP is a strategic policy tool that can provide a suite of incentives to address locally specific needs and priorities in the community, including the promotion of affordable and rental housing, as well as sustainable, accessible and economic development. The study officially began in October of 2019 and is expected to take approximately eight months to complete.

The Consultant Team

The Town of Cobourg has retained an experienced consulting team consisting of MHBC Planning and SHS Consulting to prepare the Affordable and Rental Housing CIP. MHBC Planning and SHS Consulting are experts in the fields of urban and strategic planning, policy development, housing strategy and stakeholder consultation.

You're invited to attend the Project Launch Event where the Town and its consulting team will introduce the Affordable and Rental Housing CIP study. Take part in this informal launch event to learn more about the study and participate in open discussion.

Date: Thursday, December 5, 2019.
Time: 4-6 p.m. (formal presentation at 4:30 p.m.)
Location: Victoria Hall, Citizen's Forum, 2nd Floor, West Wing, 55 King Street West, Cobourg.
